Mozabite rugs and copper teapots, open past 11pm in the Casbah
Fixed prices are the twist here. On tags, in a quarter where haggling is the default, Znika just tells you a Mozabite rug runs around 22,000 dinars and lets you decide. Everything else on the shelves is Algerian made too: hammered copper teapots, ceramics, basketry, illustration prints from local artists.
The back room runs clay sessions and craft afternoons, booked over WhatsApp. Several nights a week the shop stays open until 23:30, long after the rest of the Casbah has pulled its shutters down.

A few weeks ago, I participated in a creative workshop led by the talented and kind Majda. After some very interesting theoretical explanations about geometry and zellij patterns, it was time to pick up the brushes and unleash my creativity to the sound of chaabi music! In an inspiring setting with a warm and friendly atmosphere, enhanced by a coffee break on the terrace where the view over the rooftops of the Kasbah and the Bay of Algiers is sublime… It was a beautiful, enchanting interlude and a wonderful experience that I highly recommend ♥️

I sincerely loved my experience at the workshop. The team is truly lovely. We started the workshop with a short lesson in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, then we each worked on our own project, and afterwards we enjoyed a wonderful coffee break on the terrace overlooking the rooftops of the Kasbah. Even the location is marvelous; everything is charming. 10/10 👌🏻
