Stripped-back Japanese cafe on Jardine Street
Coffee, matcha and a short food menu, served in a room stripped back to almost nothing. Nichi's minimalism is the point, not a style choice tacked on for the photos.
It sits in Kingston, a five-minute walk from the Foreshore, and closes mid-afternoon, so go for a morning matcha rather than an evening one.

Cool cafe in Kingston with limited seating but beautiful interiors. Service very friendly and efficient. I ordered a Hojicha (hot) for $9.

It's good but it’s not a 5 star good My friend and I got hot Hojicha latte and Matcha latte $9 each. Solid flavor and good latte art. Very cute cups and coasters. Chocolate croissant is $5.5. It’s small (about half size of what we usually see) and not toasted. (can tell it’s not freshly made, would be much better if heated up)

Incredibly underrated gem in the Canberra coffee scene, I’d easily place in my top 3. Spros are in that modern shimmering high clarity style. Market Lane, Coffee Collective, and Bench Coffee Co on the shelves. The space and vibe is gorgeous. Reminiscent of the current wave of cafes in the Japanese and Nordic scenes rather than chasing the Melbourne aesthetic like most new cafes tend to. Not food focused, but pastries were a delight.

Nice to have such a simple coffee shop that isnt loud, over the top and calming. Though they dont really have food options, they clearly spend more time in their coffee and it shows. Service is wonderful. Its also nice to have something that isnt the usual coffee we see here in Canberra

Love this cafe! Great coffee and friendly service. Lovely small selection of Japanese ceramics. Would travel to go here! For the soy lovers, they use Bonsoy and the feel of the cafe is very similar to those in Tokyo. Highly recommend.
