Fresh bread by seven on Nicholson Street
Get there early and the loaves are still warm. Daybaker restocks the pastry case all morning, so a slow start still gets you something good.
Seating is tight, just a few chairs and a bench outside, so grab your coffee and walk it down to the Yarra. It's five minutes away.

The croissants here are genuinely delicious, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I’ve visited twice, and both times the staff member taking orders seemed to have difficulty understanding even simple orders. The first time, I ordered just one croissant, yet she had to ask me twice to repeat it. The second time, my friend placed an order for four pastries, and she still needed us to repeat it several times. If communication is consistently this difficult, I don’t think she’s the right person to be taking customer orders, especially during busy hours. I’ve also seen several people on social media mention the exact same experience, so it doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident. It’s a real shame because the pastries are excellent, but the ordering experience needs significant improvement. 11 August update I came back today and was really happy to see a different staff member at the counter. We had absolutely no issues ordering this time, and the whole experience was smooth and pleasant. I’m really glad to see that my previous feedback was taken into consideration. Today’s croissant trip was especially enjoyable! 🥐✨

As a croissant lover from Adelaide, I came here expecting a long queue after reading all the reviews. Surprisingly, when we arrived at 8:40 a.m. on a Friday, there was hardly any wait, and every flavour was still available. The service was efficient, friendly, and welcoming. The croissants were incredibly light and flaky, with a perfectly crisp pastry that wasn’t overly sweet. Absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Melbourne.

Very disappointing service. We were trying to place our order, but the staff member interrupted us three times to chat with other staff instead of listening to us. It felt like our order wasn’t a priority, and we had to keep repeating ourselves. A little more attention and basic courtesy would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression.

I’ve been waiting for the hype to die down before visiting but even after a month of operating there is still a queue from before the doors even open on a weekday. It’s worth the queues though as the pastries are perfection! Expertly laminated, crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. The fillings and flavours are all really delicious too. I fully understand why they sell out so fast so if you are planning to visit and want more than just coffee, come early or risk leaving empty handed. There were people buying multiples of some items and it’s only a small bakery so things will inevitably run out. Definitely impressed after my first visit and keen to come back and try more of the menu.
