Azerbaijani wine, taken seriously, under Sheki Palace Hotel
Most restaurants in Azerbaijan barely stock local wine. This basement bar under the Sheki Palace Hotel is built entirely around it. Sommelier Vusal runs tastings through the sparkling, dessert and dry wines of the Sheki region, one of the country's oldest wine areas.
It's the answer when you ask where in Sheki to actually taste local wine instead of another imported bottle. Open long hours, 10am to 11:30pm, with a short afternoon break.

What a find! The owner is such a knowledgeable sommelier, super friendly and has this catchy charisma on him! We were a group of people who randomly dropped in for a tasting. Delicious wine, also some whisky and lots of knowledge being shared. We highly recommend!

Amazing wine tasting with the owner who is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his country and its wines. A rare combination of appreciation of the best wines on offer without any condescension towards lower tiers either. A joy to be around and a really great selection of wines. Super happy either way our tasting experience

Great experience! The owner, Vusal, was very nice and profesional. We tried a couple of wines and he told us everything about them. He was very honest and didnt hesitate in get ride of one bottle that wasnt drinkable. We sat outside at a summer night in the terrace with a nice view to the caravansar.

Spent a wonderful evening here trying different red wines and talking with with my wonderful, gracious host (I'm so sorry but I forgot your name) who loves to talk about wine and share his extensive knowledge. Sadly, i was only able to drop in that one time. If you love wine, you will love this place. Apparently you can get there from the attached hotel, but i found it more convenient to walk up the small street to the left as you look at it and then climb the stairs. I didn't order any food, but I'm sure the same attention to detail will be found there too.
