Coffee bar and bookshop, sharing one room on Ezelstraat

Bruggia opened on Ezelstraat in November 2025, run by Sofie De Muynck and Bart Van Gastel. Half bookshop, half specialty coffee bar, with a large English-language section next to the Dutch titles.

Order an espresso and carry it straight to the shelves. The place was built on the idea that books and coffee belong in the same room, so nobody minds if you read for an hour before you buy anything.

The owner is very nice. He helped me and my friends with some trouble we've had with our Airbnb. After that we sat down and drank coffee. It was very good. The books inside are beautifully picked - you can really take your time and admire the books. I can recommend coming by.

Absolutely charming place that's well curated with English and Dutch books. The owner is welcoming and positively kind. My boyfriend and I got a cappuccino and some cola to sit in the smaller court yard inside. Don't let the store front fool you, it's much bigger inside! Highly recommend ❤️

Stopped here on a rainy day before getting a train. The coffee was amazing (one of the best I had in Belgium) and one of the owners was so lovely and gave me such good recommendations for the next city I was visiting. So I decided to come back and pick up a book as well. He gave me some fantastic recommendations for books too.

What a wonderful little shop! Delicious coffee and super friendly owner. Gave me some recommendations for places to eat and shared his knowledge on the history of Ezelquarter. Highly recommend visiting for a coffee, a book or both!

Lovely bookshop with a great selection of books in both Dutch and English. Good coffee too, and friendly owners. 😊
