Small-batch baking in a town built on volume.

Orange Walk has plenty of bakeries built on volume. Escalante's smaller batches are the whole point: coffee beans ground fresh each morning, donuts and pastries turned out in a rotating case of whatever's fresh that day.

It's Wednesday to Saturday only, with just a handful of tables. Customers plan around the schedule rather than the other way round. The coffee bar often stays open into the afternoon after the morning bread service winds down.

  Loved the quality of the bread and beverages. I tried a French Vanilla and it was so delicious. The prices are quite reasonable.
