The first coffee stop on the Ura highway, run by Bhutan's Desuung trainees
There's nowhere else to stop for coffee between Bumthang town and Mongar, and that's exactly the gap this small café fills. It sits on the Ura-Bumthang-Mongar highway, the first dedicated café in Ura village.
It was built and is run by young people trained through Bhutan's Desuung Skilling Programme, the national service scheme that puts graduates through vocational courses. The beans are grown in Bhutan, not imported. For the trainees, it's a real business now, not a course that ends.
Good to know
- The iced Americano is the one regulars order most.

Enjoyed delicious butter tea served by friendly father and son team with a lovely view of the area. If I can make a request for the ladies: paper in the women’s toilet and hand soap, paper towels & wastebasket would be greatly appreciated!

Great location for a mid journey stop. Fresh coffee from Bhutanese coffee beans and homemade cakes. Lovely friendly staff
