Café Sofia

★ 3.7 · 330 reviews Praia Opened Opening date unknown

A Plateau café where live music comes with the seafood

Grilled shrimp and marinated octopus first, then a set that keeps going. Café Sofia sits on Rua Serpa Pinto, right by Pracinha da Escola Grande, mixing Cape Verdean staples with Brazilian dishes, a pairing that runs through Praia's food scene thanks to the two countries' close ties.

Live music here isn't an occasional add-on, it's the regular offer. That gives the terrace a different rhythm from the quieter cafés nearby, and makes it one of the livelier rooms in a historic center that otherwise skews toward daytime foot traffic.

Cafe Sofia serves food all day, we had breakfast there, omelette was nice and hibiscus was interesting. Coffee is decent. Service is slow so be patient.. flies is also an issue. Nevertheless I recommend it!

Very nice place with good portions and tasty food. Personal is indeed friendly and speak a little English. Also, they made a salad without meat as I've asked for it. The street is pedestrian and looks quite calm. I would advise this place.
