A 1960s bank tower by Tivoli, becoming a 190-room hotel

A 12-storey modernist tower squeezed between Tivoli and Central Station is about to change jobs. Comwell and property group AKF are converting the old Arbejdernes Landsbank head office at Vesterbrogade 5 into a 190-room hotel, with a rooftop bar this stretch of Vesterbrogade has never had.

Comwell took over the keys on 1 December 2025, aiming to open around 2027. The Panoptikon name goes back almost a century, to a wax museum that once drew crowds on the same spot. A restaurant and café are planned too, though the final hotel name isn't settled yet.

• The final hotel name hasn't been announced yet, Comwell has said openly it's still deciding what to call it.
