Specialty coffee on Av. Independencia, roasted from Jarabacoa's hills

Capuccino is the order regulars keep coming back for at Cafe Amargo, alongside pastries that rotate through the week. The counter runs on beans grown in the hills around Jarabacoa rather than imported roasts, altitude-grown coffee the region rarely gets credit for outside the country.

The space stays small and functional, more counter than sit-down café. It closes Sundays and keeps a split schedule the rest of the week, mornings on Saturdays, a longer stretch Monday through Friday.

Great. Coffee was sumptuous and so were the pastries (cinnamon and Nutella buns) and ham and cheese rolls as they came out nice and warm. So good we came back on our way out to takeaway for the drive to Santiago.

There are places you discover that leave you with that wonderful feeling of wanting to return... and this is one of them. I was looking for a place after lunch where I could enjoy something sweet without guilt, and I found it there. That day I saw a variety of sweets to satisfy all kinds of tastes. It's small but cozy. It's located on one of the main streets, so if you're already parked somewhere nearby, it's best to walk there. The facade of the house doesn't give you any hint of what you'll find inside... and I loved that. ✨️ The service is excellent, but take your time; it's a young woman who serves all the visitors and prepares our treats. I asked for a large mug for my hot chocolate, and that's exactly what it was 🤎 What a wonderful surprise!! In my opinion, the only thing missing is cacao for cacao lovers like me who adore this fruit. I'm sure they'll surprise me on my next visit. ☕️🌹✨️

This is a perfect café to get coffee and pastries. It's small, but she's quick to get orders out. We are talking about coming back soon!
