Hiiumaa's champagne bar lands in Tallinn's Old Town
Started as a champagne bar on Hiiumaa's marina in Kärdla, Kork just took over the Suur-Karja 5 rooms that housed C'est La Vie for years. Champagne and sparkling wine lead, French brasserie plates back them up, all inside a historic interior worth lingering in.
They run tasting evenings with visiting champagne houses now and then, so check the calendar before you book.

This classic french brasserie, located on a calm and quiet street of the Old City, surprised us during our stay in Tallin. It has a varied menu with several classical french dishes (boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, ratatouille, soup a l’ognion, beef tartare, etc…), for reasonable prices (average 20 eur for mains). The food is great! Very authentic french flavors. The portions are a bit moderate, but still satisfying. The service was friendly and efficient, and the ambience of the restaurant is pretty nice. Highly recommend this place for those that wan’t to have something different from Estonian food during their stay.

Went in randomly on the last day of February, a Saturday. Very quiet. Went mainly because kids were hungry, and the menu had something for every one of us. The food was good, service friendly, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Had we been just with my wife, we would probably have enjoyed more. The place has a lovely looking terrace in the back. It must be really nice in the summer. Enjoyed a chat with the waiter who was apparently part of the family who owns the place.

We had a lovely dinner at C’est la Vie. The food was excellent, I especially enjoyed the tatare, which was very well seasoned, and my companions were also super happy with their meals. The wine selection - also by the glass - was excellent as well. The service personnel are clearly professionals, which gave the final touch to a perfect evening. I would recommend C’est la Vie anytime.

Very quiet when we visited, only 1 other person at lunchtime. The averted steaks with peppercorn sauce was lovely. My daughter had the chicken and thought it was overpriced and dry, but I would recommend the steak which was also reasonable value.
