132 stalls, and Levuka finally has a market again

Go early for the produce and fresh catch, both gone fast. This market replaced decades of vendors making do without one: 132 stalls, 56 permanent, built with roughly F$3.1 million from the Fiji government and Canada's contribution to UN Women's Markets for Change program.

Sellers come in from Ovalau and neighboring Moturiki. The site also includes a disability-accessible lodging block for women traveling from remote parts of the island to sell here.

• Go before midday for the best produce; stalls thin out by mid-afternoon.
