A new quayside table on the Ile de Nantes, water on one side

Macoha sits on Quai Francois Mitterrand, one of the working quays that still faces the Loire head on. Grab a table as the sun drops and the river does most of the work.

The kitchen runs a contemporary menu instead of chasing one cuisine, which suits an island still filling in with new addresses. It made this season's Tables de Nantes new entrants list, alongside a growing run of restaurants and bars along the same stretch of water.

The staff was the friendliest staff I’ve ever met in France. He seems to like his job. The food is wonderful. I love the beef tartare with green sauce, but the cod was slightly bland
