Cologne's bagel shop crosses over to the Altstadt
Beigel opened its Düsseldorf branch on Kasernenstraße in January 2026, following the original Cologne shop of the same name.
The bagels come sweet and savory, baked fluffy and paired with matcha drinks and coffee. The room is done up dark green with a marble counter, a nod to old Vienna cafés.

My visit was on concerts weekend so I was expecting big crowds and long time waits but 1 hour and 40 minutes for 4 bagels is just TOO much. Specially under heat conditions we were. Food was good but I would recommend installing hydrations courtesy areas as many cafes have. I know the crowd was just not expected but organisation wise it can be much better even with small crowds: orders were standing without being called, you had to wait in line (preferably inside) as they yell at you when it’s ready, yet what was most discomforting was seeing some people take orders before us (already standing in line approx. 1 hour) just because it seemed they were friends. 5 minutes it took for them to take their order! that’s really unfair to be honest no matter how good friends they are

Finally an excellent matcha in Düsseldorf! Classic and trendy flavors available. That vibrant green color though ✨ I usually never enjoy drinking matcha at a café, but I’d keep going back for this one 🍵 Also, the owner, who was there was super friendly and helped us remove some ice from the cup, so we could use the straw without spilling our drink 🌟

I came here for a breather during my first visit to the city, and the service was wonderful––timely, polite, and sincerely welcoming. I got their banana bread, and it was rich and refreshing, while their iced chai was about what I expected it to be. When there was an issue with my order, the staff were quick to problem solve even though I personally wasn't bothered in the slightest by the issue. I didn't feel rushed at any point, and even wanted to stay longer to keep working on an important project on my laptop. The pricing didn't seem to be too terrible for their drinks or their non-bagel options; it was on par for what urban cafes tend to be, in my opinion. As for the actual cafe, there is little left to desire. It's a nicely designed space and decorated in a tastefully modern style with the right number of antique accents. The air conditioning is also nice, especially considering how hot it is outside as I write this. For me, there is the right amount of music and general background noise for me to be productive, which was an added plus. The only thing I noted as a detriment was that the bathrooms are not particularly accessible for those with physical mobility issues, as they are up a fairly steep flight of stairs, but the bathrooms *are* objectively nice all the same. If I do wind up back in Düsseldorf, I'll certainly be bringing my friends here. I think I'm going to dream about this banana bread for the next few weeks lol
