Coffee in one hand, a mini excavator joystick in the other
Bagger Café put Stöcken on the map as Germany's first digger café. You sip your cappuccino, then take the controls of a remote operated mini excavator or wheel loader and push sand around an indoor landscape built just for this.
Owner Simyo Othmann built the whole concept around that novelty, and it caught on fast. Book your excavator slot ahead, walk in demand alone now outstrips the available machines.

Like so many things, everything is always subject to improvement. "Playing" with the diggers and driving is fun as long as the vehicles are working properly. A small workshop area for maintenance would be advisable, as, for example, the wheel loader broke down in the middle of the game... there was no replacement available, only other vehicles that were already there. So... the driving and time-saving fun is fantastic and still highly recommended. I'll gladly come back.

A fantastic (play) idea for Hanover! A large sandbox for adults – but also for children. It's a great place to dig! Booking online was very easy, and we received three reminders about our appointment. Parking depends on the availability of spaces on the main road or in the adjacent residential area. There is no dedicated parking lot. You should factor in the walking time. The "Excavator Café" itself is very sparsely furnished, but it serves its purpose. The vehicles seem very high-quality and quite robust, as collisions are frequent when operating them (the controls are good and easy to use). Playing with the different vehicles (excavator, wheel loader, dump truck) is really fun, and the 45 minutes per time slot is sufficient and goes by very quickly. The service team was very attentive and provided excellent service. The hot and cold drinks were okay and reasonably priced (normal café prices). The hot drinks could be hotter, though. Everything has a very spartan feel – but it's sufficient for a visit! Criticisms: the potential owners and their "friends" were constantly smoking outside the door!!! The problem was that the door to the shop was open, so we sat in cigarette smoke for almost 45 minutes. Absolutely unacceptable – the owners should really consider smoking further away! The restroom on the first floor was clean and okay for a quick trip, but it's a mixed-gender restroom and incredibly basic. Oh well – it was enough for our visit. You should definitely try the Bagger Café at least once, even if it's a long time before you do. It's definitely an improvement for Hanover!

A great concept, but one that still has untapped potential: The idea of driving an excavator next to a coffee shop is fantastic and something for all ages. However, personally, I felt the location and service were lacking in some areas, making a return visit very unlikely. The selection of vehicles was good, and the controls, depending on the choice, were perfectly manageable even for beginners. 45 minutes is also a good amount of time, in my opinion. Unfortunately, the location felt very bare upon entering. The large yellow wall was decorated with only a few stickers, some of which were already peeling off. We also felt very left to our own devices. There was no guidance from the staff. We somewhat aimlessly chose our seats and were then asked which vehicles we wanted. It would have been nice to receive some advice if needed. I'd never done anything like this before, and a "This vehicle is easier to drive" or "Our guest favorite is xy" would have been very nice :) We also had to figure out for ourselves that we could access the map by scanning the QR code, and we could only guess what the phone holders in front of us were for. Unfortunately, there were no snacks, only drinks. I understand that the focus is on the vehicles, but since there are also seats designated for non-drivers, I personally missed having something to eat. The drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. The vehicles were good. However, some were limited in their operation and not quite ideal for their intended use (sand on chipboard). For example, the tipper truck's tires spin immediately as soon as there are a few too many grains of sand, and the vehicle is much faster compared to the others. There were four of us adults, and we could easily see over the counter into the "sandbox." However, the area directly in front of you was rather difficult to see, and you sometimes had to navigate blindly. For younger guests, the view would have been even more limited. It was definitely a great experience, but personally, I felt it lacked the care and attention to detail to make it truly exceptional.
