Same rooftop bar, new square after 31 years
Base ran as a cafe and rooftop cocktail bar near Solomos Square for 31 years before it moved to San Marco Square in February 2026, a short walk away in the heart of Zakynthos Town. The relocation closed one of the island's oldest nightlife addresses and reopened it under the same name, keeping the same setup: a ground-floor cafe and restaurant with a cocktail bar on the roof.
The roof still runs coffee, hot and cold, through the day, then switches to a full cocktail list once the sun drops, with the old town spread out below the terrace. Regulars who tracked the address for three decades will find the bar itself unchanged, just a different walk to get there.

Had an amazing evening here! Very helpful and friendly waiter named Dennis, and the food and house special cocktails were delicious. Would really recommend!!

We had lunch here. Verry friendly staff. Great hospitality. Food arrived quickly and tasted great. I had the chicken pinsa and my wife the chicken burrito. Both where tasty. Nice modern interior. All in all a great place to eat.

We had a great time at Base San Marco. The chicken pappardelle was delicious and the Negroni was perfectly made. The service was really good, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere in Saint Marco Square made the whole experience even better!

Really nice brunch spot at Base San Marco we tried 3 croque madam and they were all delicious and filling. Good coffee, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff. Would definitely visit again!

I recently visited Base San Marco, located right in the heart of the city at Saint Mark’s Square, and I had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, offering great quality and variety, while the drinks were equally impressive and refreshing. We ordered an omelette and scrambled eggs, both of which were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully presented (you can see them in the photos!). Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. What truly stood out, though, was the excellent service. Our waitress, Aphrodite, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, making us feel welcome from the very first moment. On top of everything, the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the central location and the overall quality. I would highly recommend Base San Marco to anyone looking for a great place to eat, drink, and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere in the city center.
