Everyone still calls it Mansa's

D Banana Bar sits at the junction in central Gouyave, next to the vendors market. Nobody calls it that though. Everyone knows it as Mansa's, named for the man who's run the counter for years. Cold beer, rum, a few stools. Regulars treat it like an extension of the street.

This isn't a Fish Friday stop for visitors passing through. It's a neighborhood bar. A five-minute chat at the counter tells you more about Gouyave than a walk around it does.

Good to know

• Ask for it as "Mansa's", that's still the name locals use.
• It's right at the town junction near the vendors market, easy to find on foot.

  A cheerful, convivial atmosphere in the center of Gouyave, with old fashion bay windows from which to look out at the lively bustle of the City That Never Sleeps. Excellent drinks, wonderful food: always a great lunch menu, but, most of all, the best burger on the island, nicely seasoned and carefully garnished. There is a pool table, other games, a wide screen TV, karaoke nights. Great customer service, friendly hosts, and welcoming locals and patrons.
