Café Baviera Cemaco

The historic Baviera menu, now inside Cemaco Xela
Baviera's Cemaco branch runs the same menu that's kept Quetzaltecos coming to the original Centro Histórico address for decades: 100%-Guatemalan coffee, crepes, croissants and pasta. It's the fourth address for a café chain that keeps growing inside the city's shopping centers rather than opening standalone spots.
Cemaco, Boxpark and a Sunroom location have all followed the same pattern. Convenient if you're already at the mall, familiar if you know the original.

Ate here yesterday with my friends. The drinks, sandwiches, and Caesar salad were excellent!! The pasta Bolognese was terrible. We recommend the salad and the sandwich but not the pasta :)

Nice seating and pleasant environment but the coffee was terrible. The “Cappuccino” was served like some Nescafé style drink in a tall glass. Service was slow too.

This place is beautiful and the drinks are good. There are only two problems: for some reason, the staff like to turn up the music SO LOUD!! It completely destroys the atmosphere. The music itself isn't bad but the volume is so loud people have to yell to be heard. The other thing is that there is always someone wandering in off the street to try and sell trinkets. This isn't so bad but often they won't take a simple no thank you for an answer. They'll stand at your table and beg you to buy something. There is a lot of competition for cafes in the city. I can't understand why this one is rarely full.

Great atmosphere. Service isn't bad, but consider this isn't exactly a cheap restaurant, I expect taste and quality of food to be a lot better than what were offered to me. Their bagels are basically soft breads. "German sausage" is like cheap hot-dog from the US. Don't overspend your money at this place.
