Lethem's actual coffee shop, Kanuku views included

Real espresso, not instant off a snackette counter. Common Grounds sits on the ground floor of Amazonas Hotel, pouring specialty coffee and pastries in a room facing the Kanuku Mountains. Guyanese and Brazilian beans share the menu, a nod to what's across the river.

It's become the default spot for meetings in a town short on places to sit with a coffee. Open roughly 7am to 5pm on weekdays.

Good to know

• Opens at 7am and closes by 5pm, don't plan on it for an evening coffee.

  Great coffees made with roasted beans, not a powder mix. A great place to relax, work or just read a book.
