Wine bar and daytime café on Apor Vilmos püspök tere

Scruton brought its Budapest wine-bar formula to Győr's old town, setting up in a bright, open room on Apor Vilmos püspök tere. By day it runs as a café, by night a wine bar, with a list that mixes Hungarian and international bottles and pours a good chunk of them by the glass.

The kitchen sticks to small plates: Mediterranean and Central European bites, tacos, cheese boards, house pastries, all built for grazing rather than a full sit-down dinner. Specialty coffee runs alongside the wine, so the place covers breakfast through last call. Open daily until late.

It was a fantastic brunch experience, divine food, special refreshments (I didn't know before that I needed a coffee pina colada, but I'm getting addicted to it...), very kind service, surprisingly fair price-value, all in a very cozy place. Plus, the place is dog-friendly! I can only recommend it, we'll definitely be going again.

I was there for the first (and last) time, I thought I would check it out for myself if Facebook was already full of people advertising the place. It was Easter Sunday today, the city center was full of people, there were queues at many places at the units. Well, there were only 2 guests here at this time, and since there was no sunny terrace, I asked for a coffee to take away, the service was completely neutral, there was no kindness in the lady serving… the black soup was at the checkout, when I saw that a service fee was also charged for the ~1300 cappucino. I understand that you have to squeeze as much out of the guest as possible, but there was no specific service… In Hungary, the “service fee” (serving fee) is in principle: • for service related to consumption on site • so classically waiter, table setting, table service Logically, this follows from this that it is not justified for takeaway. In my review, food means coffee, which was delicious but barely lukewarm. I think service, no need to explain why 2 stars Atmosphere; not bad, the place could have a lot of potential if there were more plants and a decent terrace. Sorry
