Tapas and wine in a century-old cellar on Avas hill

The team behind Iszkor, the Michelin Bib Gourmand spot in nearby Mályinka, took over an old wine barn on the Avas cellar row and turned it into Gajdó. Deep burgundy walls, warm lighting and a worn sofa by the fireplace that regulars already call the Friends couch.

The menu runs Spanish and international, tapas-sized plates built for sharing over a bottle from the wine list. It's a fitting use for a building that's part of nearly 900 cellars carved into this hillside over the centuries.

We visited the restaurant on the occasion of the week, but we will gladly return again, even to the terrace when it opens. The restaurant is very family-friendly, the service is perfect and the food is very special and we have encountered flavors that we have never encountered anywhere else. Several guests with dogs arrived during our stay and the employees immediately brought them fresh water, so this is also a plus point for us.
