Selfoss's longtime meeting spot for coffee and cake
Kaffi Krús has anchored Selfoss for years, set in an old timber house on Austurvegur and known first for its homemade cakes. Past the cake counter there's a full menu of soups, sandwiches and mains served through the day.
It's the default place to meet in town, busy most hours and easy to feel at home in. Stop by for coffee and a slice, or stay for lunch.

Stopped at Kaffi Krús for dinner. It was super busy and we were lucky to get a table. That is always a good sign. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We had the fish and chips, a burger and the pizza with dates and honey. After my first bite of the pizza I knew I had to leave a review. It was so good!

We loved this place. Nice cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. My sister said the chicken salad was excellent and very generous portion. I liked my fish and chips, but the star of the show was the Happy Ever After Cake. This was our first time trying it in Iceland and it was delicious. We tried different versions (Happy Marriage Cake) everywhere we went in Iceland, but this place was everyone’s favorite. We almost made a special trip back to Selfoss just for this cake, but didn’t have enough time. It was that good.

Food is great. Ordering is super simple via a QR code on the table. Service is fast and staff are friendly and efficient. Reservation is not required.

Tons of seating indoors and outdoors. Service was super friendly. Food was amazing. We only had a stop for lunch but wish we had more opportunities to eat here. Desserts were amazing and they had lots of options for mains and desserts.

PRICEY. Stopped in on our way to Vik. The staff was amazing, loved the vibe. Outlets available to charge our cameras (it's the small things). When we checked out credit statement we were SHOCKED. Two cakes, a chia and dirty chai came to $50 🫠 compared to $20 we spent at a cafe in Hafnarfjordur for two coffees, a sandwich and cinnamon roll. Enjoy, just be aware it'll cost.
