Vegetarian rooftop drinks with the Taj in view

Skip the ground-floor cafes and head up. The Salt Cafe sits on the third floor in Tajganj, close enough to the Taj Mahal that you get a real view over the rooftops while you drink.

The whole room got rebuilt in 2025 around the same vegetarian menu regulars already liked. Come for a long sit, not a quick coffee.

What a hidden gem in Agra! The Salt Cafe has a fantastic vibe, beautiful rooftop seating, and a great view. The food was absolutely delicious with a wide variety of options, and the service was top-notch. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommended!

Here's a polished Google review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a great experience overall and would definitely recommend this place, especially if you're looking to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and spend quality time with friends or family. The ambiance is beautiful, relaxing, and one of the biggest highlights of the restaurant. When it comes to food, it was good, but if your main priority is exceptional food quality and taste, I would personally prefer Pinch of Spice, Agra. However, for the overall experience, vibe, and atmosphere, this restaurant is definitely worth visiting. A great place to unwind and enjoy a lovely outing!

Salt Cafe, Agra – Vibe check passed, food’s legit, service meh Place is super clean and spacious. Great spot for dates or friend hangouts when you want something more than a basic restaurant. Food was good, no complaints there. We got the peri peri fries, pink sauce pasta, tandoori pizza. Pasta was creamy and loaded, pizza had a nice thin crust Service was okay. And I mean just okay. Staff are polite but slow. Took forever to get water, and our food came out one dish at a time with big gaps. Had to wave twice for the bill. Felt like they were short-staffed on a Saturday night. Not rude, just slow. Pricing is slightly premium but justified by the location and ambience Go on weekdays if you hate waiting. I’d still recommend it for the food and aesthetics. Just don’t go starving. Areas to improve Service efficiency

We recently visited Salt Cafe for dinner during our trip to Agra. Since the café is quite popular and widely talked about, we were looking forward to the experience, but overall, it turned out to be fairly average for us. The café has a lively atmosphere and is clearly a well-known spot in the city, possibly because it has been around for a long time and has built a strong reputation over the years. However, we personally felt that the place was a bit overcrowded and somewhat overhyped compared to the actual experience. The music was quite loud, which made the environment less comfortable for a relaxed family dinner. At night, the view and ambience also did not feel as impressive as we had expected from the reviews and popularity surrounding the café. The food quality was decent but nothing extraordinary. We ordered several items, and while everything was acceptable, none of the dishes really stood out. The pricing also felt slightly on the higher side considering the portion sizes and overall quality, especially when compared with other dining options in the city. Service was another area where we faced some delays, as a few of our orders took quite a while to arrive. The staff was polite, but the overall experience could have been managed more efficiently. Perhaps expectations play a role as well — being from Delhi and having explored many cafés and restaurants in different cities, we may have expected something more unique or memorable from such a highly recommended place. Overall, it’s an okay café to visit once if you want to experience one of Agra’s popular spots, but there are likely several other cafés in the city that may offer a better balance of ambience, food quality, pricing, and comfort.

Located on Fatehabad Road, The Salt Cafe is a decent spot if you're looking for good ambiance and drinks, but the food leaves a bit to be desired. The Good: Convenience: They offer valet parking, which is a huge relief if you are driving your own car. Ambiance & View: The restaurant is spread across two levels (the 3rd and 4th floors). If you manage to get a table near the window, you get a lovely distant view of the Taj Mahal. They also have live music in the evenings which sets a great mood. Drinks: The menu is vast, featuring a massive selection of cocktails and mocktails. The Food: We started with some soup and the Murgh Tikka, but honestly, the taste was just okay and nothing spectacular. The sizzler we ordered for our main course was actually quite nice, though the iced tea we paired it with was just "okayish." The Verdict: The prices here are comparatively on the higher side. Because the food is just average, it doesn't really feel like a great value-for-money deal. Even though I've been here a couple of times over the years, based on the current food quality versus the price, I'd say this is more of a one-time visit just to enjoy the view and grab a drink.
