Grumble

Gelato under hot crumble, from the people behind Guji.
Grumble opened at 34 O'Connell Street in May 2026, the latest spot from Alan Andrews and the Coffee Culture Group, who also run Guji a few doors up and roast their coffee at the Old Barracks. The idea: Italian gelato served under warm crumble, an Irish spin on an Italian format.
Crêpes and milkshakes round out the counter. It's a dessert stop, not a café to sit and work in, and it stays open later than the coffee bars nearby.

We had mixed feelings about our visit. The food was excellent, especially the ice cream with crumble, which was absolutely delicious. Katherine, who served us, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and she made the experience much more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the temperature inside the shop was unbearably hot. On such a warm day, it was very uncomfortable to stay inside, which is especially disappointing for a place that serves ice cream. It's a real shame because the quality of the product and the outstanding customer service deserve a much better environment. We hope they can improve this, as we would happily come back.

The staff is so nice and polite. The Grumble was amazing, the warm apple was so nice and soft and has the perfect amount of sweetness, and it goes so well with the crumble and the vanilla ice cream on top!
Thank you!
Thanks, we'll take a look.
