The old Carmine market bar, reborn on Via Mordini

Seventeen years anchoring the corner of the old Mercato del Carmine ended when a dispute with the city forced Bar del Sole out. It reopened on Via Mordini in June 2024, smaller than the market stall it came from, and the regulars followed anyway.

Mornings run on the usual Lucca rhythm: espresso at the counter, a cornetto, someone reading the paper standing up. Lunch brings simple panini and a daily plate. Bring cash, cards are hit or miss here.
