Ja-Mexican tacos with island heat

Tacos, burritos and quesadillas get run through a distinctly island filter at Papi Chulo, jerk-marinated meats folded into Mexican formats rather than a straight import of a Tulum menu. It started as a home-kitchen side project before the Jamaican owners opened properly in 2024. The name's a wink, and regulars just call it Papi's.

The restaurant now runs from Drax Hall, west of Ocho Rios, drawing locals and villa guests for Tuesday taco specials.

Good to know

• Tuesdays run a dedicated taco special.
• The Drax Hall location is the one to trust today; the original Main Street address has since changed hands.
