HAERA

The newest reason to walk down Nishiki
HAERA is one of the new complexes changing the look of central Nagoya, and locals rate it above the one with the bigger press release. Shops fill the lower floors, restaurants sit above.
Skip the shops if you want, the restaurant floors alone are worth the lift ride. Go in the evening, when the crowd is bigger than it is at lunch.

The Phoenix Square underground shopping area in Sakae...it connects to the second basement floor of HAERA from where the fountain used to be. If you go from the underground shopping area, you'll find restaurants and bars in the basement. The lighting is a bit stylish, and the shops have a cool vibe. It's not really family-friendly, or rather, it's difficult to go in with children. The floors above the first floor are retail, or rather, fashion. The building is new, so the ceilings are high and it looks cool. I wonder how much annual income you need to enjoy shopping here... It seems like you need to be able to buy things on a whim, rather than carefully considering and agonizing over what to buy.

🌐 Facility: HAERA 📍 Location: Naka-ku, Nagoya City 🔖 Features: The Landmark Nagoya Sakae B2F-4F Luxury Mall 🕰️ Opening Hours: B1F-3F 10:00-20:00 B2F-4F 11:00-23:00 🅿️ Parking 1 hour free parking for purchases over 5,000 yen 2 hours free parking for purchases over 20,000 yen I went to the opening. The interior walls and ceilings are very beautiful, so even if the shops are crowded and you can't get in, it's worth going. Right at the entrance on the 1st floor, there's NONFICTION, a Korean perfume shop, so the floor smells wonderful. You can go out to the terrace from the 4th floor, so I thought it would be nice for a walk. At the opening, it was so crowded that I couldn't properly browse the shops, so I gave it 4 stars, but it has improved, so I've changed it to 5 stars!

This is HAERA, a new and much-talked-about mixed-use commercial building that recently opened in Sakae. Its sophisticated high-rise exterior, contrasting beautifully with the greenery of Hisaya-Odori Park, is truly impressive. The building boasts a wide range of offerings from the second basement floor to the fifth floor. The basement floors feature casual cafes and popular curry restaurants, the fourth floor offers gourmet dining with renowned eel and high-end yakiniku restaurants, and the fifth floor houses a movie theater (TOHO Cinemas), making it a place where you can spend the whole day. The building's signage clearly indicates free Wi-Fi, and elevators and accessible restrooms are marked, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for those with strollers or wheelchairs. As a state-of-the-art building, it's likely that many stores will support a wide range of cashless payment options. It's perfect for any occasion, whether it's shopping, a date, a family meal, or watching a movie. #NagoyaNewOpening #Sakae #HAERA #TOHOCinemas #NagoyaOuting

"A new generation luxury mall has opened in Sakae! You'll be completely satisfied with the artistic space and gourmet food making its first appearance in the Tokai region, but it's sure to be extremely crowded on weekends!" Date of visit: July 2026 (weekend, early afternoon) Crowds: Quite crowded (especially the food court in the basement, where there are long lines) Access: Directly connected to the ticket gates of Sakae Station on the Higashiyama and Meijo subway lines (The Landmark Nagoya Sakae, B2F to 4F) Recommendation: ★★★★☆ 🏬 A new landmark in Sakae! My first visit to "HAERA" I went to "HAERA," a new landmark in Sakae that just opened in June 2026! The name is said to be a combination of "haeru" (to prosper) and "Era," which means era in English, and it is a super stylish mixed commercial facility that truly gives the feeling of "a new era for Sakae." The commercial floors of the super high-rise building "The Landmark Nagoya Sakae" are located from the second basement floor to the fourth floor above ground, and when you exit the ticket gates of Sakae Station on the Higashiyama and Meijo subway lines, you are seamlessly connected to the entrance on the first basement floor. On rainy days or the sweltering heat of recent summers, it's simply the best to be able to enter an air-conditioned space without having to go outside. In terms of accessibility, it deserves a perfect 5 stars! 🎨 The concept is "PUBLIC MUSEUM": A space that stimulates your senses just by walking around What is first of all is the overwhelmingly stylish interior design that sets it apart from conventional "department stores" and "fashion buildings". As the concept of "PUBLIC MUSEUM" suggests, the entire building is like a modern art museum. Each floor is like an independent gallery, and just walking around and window shopping, you get some kind of creative stimulation from the layout of the corridors and escalators, the use of light in the space, and the art pieces placed here and there. From the first to the third floor, you'll find a massive multi-floor store by Louis Vuitton, along with flagship stores of world-class fashion houses and high-end apparel brands, creating a luxurious atmosphere. Rather than being a place for everyday use, it has a strong character as a "special place to go to buy a little treat for yourself." 🍩 The "ultimate gourmet food and sweets" are amazing, with many firsts and new business formats in the Tokai region! My main objective this time was the food area concentrated on the first and second basement floors. Apparently, about 60% of the approximately 65 stores in this HAERA development are "firsts in the Tokai area," making it an irresistible lineup for food lovers. First basement floor (ultimate sweets zone): This floor is like heaven, with a permanent cafe of "Mr. Cheesecake" (luxurious counter seats!) and the high-end chocolate shop "Pierre Marcolini Cafe." This time I was aiming for the romantic limited-edition sweets at "Louange Tokyo Le Chateau," but as expected it was very popular and there was a long line. There's a new brand from "Patisserie Gin no Mori," popular for its cookie tins perfect for souvenirs, so you won't have any trouble finding a gift. Basement 2nd Floor (Diverse Restaurants & Bars): The second basement floor is a stark contrast, with a lively atmosphere like a gourmet alley! You'll find "Solo Pizza Napoletana" for authentic pizza, "Starbucks Reserve® Cafe" where you can enjoy specialty coffee, and even "Sta. (STA)," a popular creative home-style cooking restaurant in Tokyo. There are also casual standing bars where you can enjoy drinks during the day, and many shops are open late into the night (until 11:00 PM!), making it very convenient for adults looking to enjoy Sakae. When I went this time, it was extremely crowded everywhere. I had lunch at a specialty Japanese restaurant that seemed to have a relatively quick turnover, and I was very satisfied with both the taste and quality. 📝 Advice for Visitors & a Minor Disappointment: Crowd countermeasures are essential! Since it's still relatively new, it gets incredibly crowded on weekends. Especially in the basement food floor, famous cafes, and popular shops, you'll experience considerable wait times unless you go at the right time. If you want to browse at your leisure, I recommend aiming for weekday mornings or a little later in the evening. Parking warning: There is no (or very few) dedicated or affiliated parking lots, so if you come by car, the nearby coin parking fees will be quite expensive. I strongly recommend coming by public transport (directly connected to Sakae subway station)! There's also a movie theater on the 5th floor! While HAERA itself only has commercial floors up to the 4th floor, the 5th floor now houses the new "TOHO Cinemas Nagoya Sakae". It seems like it would be very convenient as a date course that can be completed in just this one building, before or after watching a movie. ✨ Overall impression: It gives the impression that a stimulating and sophisticated playground has been created that is befitting of Nagoya's "Sakae". It's not just a place to buy things, but it is packed with experiential value such as "enjoying the space itself" and "discovering new food and culture". This new spot is perfect not only for everyday shopping, but also for dates with loved ones and showing friends around when they visit Nagoya. Once the crowds die down, I plan to take a day off during the week and go back to try out the limited-time cafes!

There’s Prayer Room in the 3rd Floor ✨ A great shopping mall with a clean and comfortable prayer room. It makes shopping much easier for Muslim visitors. Thank you for providing such a thoughtful facility!
