Skip the cafés facing the road and find the one facing the ruins instead. Olive Cafe, known locally as Zeitouna, sits right on the Qayrawan roundabout with a terrace that looks straight over the Jerash ruins.

The drinks menu is the other surprise: past 300 combinations by the owners' count. It's already one of the more photographed stops in town, helped by sitting on the walk tourists take between the roundabout and the site.
