Madaba's highest rooftop, back after a full renovation

The gold dome of the nearby mosque catches the last light before the call to prayer, and Madaba's rooftops spread out below in every direction. That view is the reason to climb up here right now.

St. John Rooftop & Restaurant reopened in July 2025 after the new owners gutted the top floor of the old Saint John Hotel on King Talal Street. It's still a soft opening, drinks ahead of food, with a new bar pouring local wine and beer from the highest terrace in the old town.

Good to know

• Arrive an hour before sunset for a rail-side table facing the mosque's gold dome.
• Food service was still limited during the 2025 soft opening, check ahead if you want dinner rather than just drinks.
