Betio's fishing-club bar, famous for its full-moon weigh-ins

One of only two real bars on all of Tarawa, and the better-known half of that pair. Once a month, on the Saturday closest to the full moon, the Betio Game Fishing Club hauls its catch in for the weigh-in and the whole place turns into the social center of the islet.

Other nights it's dockworkers, government staff and the odd aid worker passing through. No frills, plenty of regulars.
