Hive Bar sits north of central Nong Khiaw, near the bus station, right across from the Sleeping Lady Viewpoint trailhead. Far enough out that finding it feels like a deliberate detour, not a passing stop.

Ask anyone who's been and the owner comes up first: unusually friendly, quick with a banana shake recommendation, running a menu wider than you'd expect for a bar this size. Nobody seems to agree on the opening hours, which fits the mood, a place locals and long-stay travelers keep coming back to.

Good to know

It's a 10-15 minute walk from the town center, near the bus station. Factor that into the trip back after dark.

A very interesting spot on the map of Nong Khiaw, which the others have pointed out in their previous comments. I was there nearly every day, both to eat, smoke, and drink - especially after going back from the viewpoint just next to it. The owner is an amazing person, helpful, easy-going, and a good cook. Great place to chill and relax. Did you buy one of the paintings of the owner's daughter? ;)

Amazing place to chill. The sleeping lady viewpoint is just opposite. It only takes 20 minutes to hike and is much more quiet than the other viewpoints - support the local people outside the centre. Great owner who's very friendly and offers everything from beers to cocktails. Reggae music too. Underrated and unique place in town. Take a ride to Hive Bar for a nice evening out 😄

We stayed in Nong Khiaw for 9 days and tried many restaurants but the BEST food is here in Hive Bar !!! Fried rice and spring rolls were the best we had during our trip. Place is cosy and comfy, owner is super friendly. Cocktails are gooooood and well served. Always good music. Happy menu is a great plus for those intereseted. Thank you and see you next time !

A very cool and friendly bar with an amazing owner. The atmosphere is relaxed, hippie-style, with great reggae vibes that make you feel instantly at home. It’s the kind of place you want to stay longer and come back to — I’d happily visit again.
