C'Gasy took over a corner spot on Boulevard Marcoz in Mahajanga Be. Tapas and cocktails, a format the waterfront strip didn't have before. Small plates for sharing. A DJ set runs most nights. The drinks list is built around rum, not beer. It reads as a bar first, restaurant second. People graze on tapas between rounds rather than sitting down for a full meal.

The Facebook following, over 24,000 at last count, is ahead of most sit-down restaurants in the city. It became the default answer to "where's everyone going tonight" among Mahajanga's younger crowd and the resident expats.
