A self-described fine-dine inn, delivered small-town style

Sumuka Inn describes itself as offering a fine dine restaurant and a bar, in Karonga's Old Town close to the Road Traffic office. It's a small B&B, and the ambition in its own description outpaces the scale of the operation.

Word of mouth is mixed, with at least one visitor unimpressed by the rooms and menu range. The Old Town location is the more reliable draw, a quieter stretch of Karonga than the market end of the Boma.

  Clean and cheap rooms. Breakfast included at 15K is good value. Water availability was a problem, but buckets are fine. Staff are nice and friendly. Bar inside is handy but a bit expensive, outside seating would be better. Even got its own unfriendly resident mzungu.

  Tamatabi 20191031 I am Traveller by bicycle. I have paid 15000K for regular room. 4500K for Lunch. It is not so good. Good trip.

  Very Decent rooms, fair price (still pricy but ok for Karonga). Food is ok too. Biggest plus, rooms have air conditioning! Probably one of the best places to stay in Karonga boma
