Sliema Opens 2027

Accor's first Mövenpick in Malta, rising on The Strand

A new hotel is going up on The Strand in Sliema, on the site of the old Sliema Hotel once run by the Stivala group. It's slated to open in 2027 as Accor's first Mövenpick on the islands.

Planning papers from 2024 called it a four-star build, though the hotel's own channels now say five-star, worth double-checking closer to opening. The site looks straight across Marsamxett harbour to Valletta, right where Sliema's ferries and harbour cruises dock.

Good to know

• Not open yet: the countdown on the hotel's own site is the most reliable date to work from.
