Wine by candlelight under Birgu's stone vaults

Del Borgo pours wine in the vaulted underground cellars of a historic Birgu building, one of the more atmospheric drinking rooms in the Three Cities. The stone keeps the room cool even in August.

The list mixes Maltese and international bottles, served with plates of local cheese and cured meat. Come for a bottle and good company, not a full dinner.

We chose Del Borgo for a birthday dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences of our trip. The food was excellent from start to finish. The aged Pecorino was a perfect starter to enjoy with a glass of white wine, while the mushroom risotto and duck breast were both beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The side dishes were just as impressive, and the wine selection was outstanding. Combined with the charming setting in Birgu and attentive service, it made for a truly memorable evening.

We were a table of two. We had a Maltese platter with avocado and brie salad. All washed down with a delicious local white wine. Traditional Maltese puddings and coffee to follow. Staff were lovely.

Amazing experience at Del Borgo! Delicious food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Everything was fresh and well prepared. Highly recommended, and I would definitely visit again! 🌟🍷🍽️

Amazing place. Great wine selection, lovely since you find the main gate, the interior is like a wine cava with wall art and very sofisticated decor. We really enjoyed from the minute 1. The waitress (we never asked her name but she is from nepal) was super kind, clear and always ready to help us with the food and wine and some photos. Candles in each table makes a romantic environment. Is a place were you can have a great experience. We love it!!

Good food, big portions, nice service and cosy atmosphere. We went there 2 times in a row and left satisfied. Big selection of wines (even for sale)
