Mutalat opened on Rue Touahen in early 2025, a coffee shop and restaurant built around a rooftop that looks straight over the ramparts to the Atlantic. People stumble onto it by accident and then keep coming back.

It runs from 11am until sunset, better suited to a long breakfast or a windy afternoon coffee than a dinner reservation. Downstairs keeps the traditional decor, upstairs is just white walls and the view.

We loved everything about this place! Everyone was so kind and friendly. Just a heads-up they only accept cash, so make sure to have some with you. The prices are also really good!

Mutalat was one of my favorite spots in Essaouira. I had the chicken pesto sandwich, and it was honestly delicious—fresh, flavorful, and really satisfying. The coffee was excellent too, which made the whole experience even better. The view is beautiful, especially if you want to relax for a while, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Essaouira. Highly recommended for good food, great coffee, and an amazing view.

Perfect place for breakfast in Essaouira, close to the coast. There are three different floors where you can enjoy your breakfast or brunch. The breakfast options are good, the coffee was tasty, and the service from both Yassins was excellent. Price and quality are well balanced.

Most scenic place that also felt like a secret discovery! Our cappuccino and smoothie were tasty but it was the view and the trek up the spiral staircase that made this a special stop on our trip.
