Maitri sits on Vishnupura Road directly opposite Gate 5, close enough to the temple complex that it's become the default stop before or after walking the Sacred Garden. The name covers three things at once: cafe, restaurant and bar.

The coffee is sourced within Nepal, not imported, and staff will mention this unprompted if you ask what's good. The crowd mixes pilgrims, NGO staff based in town, and locals meeting for tea, rarer than it sounds in a place built around one-day visitors.

The food was good and the service was alright, but all the time I was there they were blasting tiktok videos on a speaker, I know in Nepal is common to watch videos on tiktok in publicwith the volume raised but this is the next level, I was the only one there and couldnt have a peaceful meal.

During our stay in Lumbini, we ate all our meals in this restaurant. We tried their Thalis, the Thukpa, a soup, an appetizer and an oriental dish. I must say that all the dishes that we ate where fresh and tasty. They surely have a good set of kitchen staff. They make the dishes fresh when you order. So be patient. The Buff Chhoila was the exception; the meat was chewy and way too spicy for me.

Excellent restaurant with high-quality food and great service. The staff are welcoming, the environment is pleasant, and the menu offers good variety. Everything was well maintained and hygienic. A must-visit spot.

Food was really good. A bit expensive but tasty. The coffee was also very good. Finally! The garden was very quiet and relaxing. At least before two men came to speak by phone on their loud speakers ruining the whole atmosphere. For the rest, I'd recommend it.
