Dutch kitchen and cocktails with a 140-seat terrace by Centraal

There's a frog above the door, the only clue to the name. Prince Charming is the bar and kitchen of Hotel Prins Hendrik, right on the corner of Prins Hendrikkade and Nieuwebrugsteeg, with 65 seats inside and a terrace for 140.

The food is traditional Dutch, and the cocktail list gets more attention than a hotel brasserie usually bothers with. It's two minutes from Centraal, which is rarer than it sounds for somewhere you'd actually choose to sit down.

The waitress was very patient and the atmosphere was great. The decoration of the restaurant fits the theme well too. Beef ball was slightly on the saltier side but the mashed potato and spinach complimented it. Dutch beef was nicely done (medium on request). Delicious meal in general. A glass of water costs €4 which is typical of restaurants in European restaurants. They don’t serve tap water.

The Google reviews did not lie! This place is absolutely charming and located right in the center .The service was fantastic, and the food was even better. We tried the burger, the beef with mushroom sauce, and finished with the apple strudel—everything was phenomenal. Highly recommend!

We read the reviews before going and even the most positive did not say enough good things about this place. “Restaurant Charming” is more like it . Cute subtle frog-to-prince theme but forget that. Each of the servers was absolutely charming, attentive and helpful. A change of shift resulted in our first very charming server being replaced by another, as if that kind of employee comes easy here. Add to that a beautifully designed and decorated space with comfy-cozy seating with intimate affect to assure a wonderful dining experience. Then the food. Again this is a place where obvious extensive care is taken to provide a very tasty and appealing experience. The Dutch Beef is a yummy hunk of sirloin done to perfection with grilled vegetable and roasted potato wedges. Add the mushroom gravy and it is heaven. My wife went with the Dutch meatball with spinach and mashed potatoes. We nearly licked the plates. Dessert was shared since we were stuffed and again a great presentation and obvious to us, continued with the fresh and well sourced ingredients. The Dame Blanche, yum. One more thing that you often don’t hear about. The music playlist was superb, chill and set just the right hip vibe. Who plays Archie and the Drells, Mayer Hawthorn and similar? Here they did, taking the time to curate the music to fit the feel and taste of the place. If you are in or visiting Amsterdam, just go to this place. You will be immersed in a wonderful experience and leave happier than when you came in.

The place is quiet, the hostesses are very beautiful and friendly, and the service is prompt. The place, utensils, and food are delicious and clean. It's very close to the NH Hotel, and I recommend it to all tourists, especially those coming from the Gulf and the Middle East. Their exceptional service truly deserves seven star

Food was good, I had the pea soup because it's something typical of Netherlands, it came with bread and it was delicious, the place is cute and green, has frogs all around it, small but not cramped. When the bill came, I got a frog gummy, that was cute. The service is European so it's slow and you have to ask multiple times for the things you want including water
