English fiction, fantasy and romantasy on Choorstraat

English-language fiction, fantasy, romance and romantasy fill the shelves at The Paperback. Owner Marleen van der Wal curates it all herself and reads roughly forty books a year. She was just 25 when she opened the shop, unable to find English paperbacks elsewhere in Delft.

A reading nook sits under the shop's skylights, giving the space a living-room feel. Van der Wal also runs book clubs and wine-and-books evenings to bring readers together.

Such a lovely English bookstore near the city centre of Delft. Good to know that they focus entirely on fiction, and the collection is genuinely impressive. If they don’t have a book you’re looking for, they can usually order it for you within a few days 📚 Marleen and her husband are the nicest owners and always happy to help you find something or recommend a book. I once reached out on Instagram about a book, and Marleen kindly kept a copy aside for me until I could come by. It’s little things like that which make the place feel so personal. The whole shop has an incredibly welcoming atmosphere, and it’s very easy to lose track of time browsing the shelves. And then there’s Sofie, their dog, who has her own throne in the shop. If she’s there when you visit, petting her is highly recommended. 10/10 bookstore experience.

A bookstore that (like the site proclaims) feels like a cozy living room! They have a great selection of books that cater to every taste and the owner is super nice and passionate about English books. The best part though, is that you can get greeted by the owner's dog!

Loved this place. So cute and cozy and the best furry shop assistant. I wish I lived closer so I could participate in bookclubs and winetastings they host. Also, LOVE LOVE LOVE how my book was wrapped 🥰
