Digging for records that never made it onto the internet

About seventy percent of the stock at Digelen is used, and the owner clearly favours the stuff that never made it online: obscure pressings, local releases and oddities sitting next to the staples. It's the kind of shop made for actual digging, not browsing a screen.

You'll find it on Lille Øvregaten, the crooked old-town street below Fløyen where Bergen's small independents cluster. It's Bergen's first genuine new vinyl shop in years, alongside long-running Apollon and Rocade. One person runs it, hours are short, and that's the point.

Good to know

• Short opening hours: Tuesday-Friday 11-16 and Saturday 12-16 - closed Sunday and Monday.
• The pitch is music you won't find on streaming services, so come to dig, not to search for a specific title.

  Incredible guy who owns the incredible store. I stayed there for two hours. I’m responsibly engaged. He let me listen to anything I wanted and gave me an amazing deal. The prices are good and he’s constantly restocking. It’s lovely to support a buisness like this one. Design was on point for me and I would go back right now if I hadn’t gone through every single house record there was 🤣
