Japanese-leaning coffee bar at the bottom of Karl Johan

Skip the Nordic coffee-shop script. Hakone's Jernbanetorget spot, at the station end of Karl Johans gate, runs on Japanese coffee room instincts instead, following its original branch inside Folketeaterpassasjen in Storgata.

It's a solid twenty-minutes-before-a-train stop. Just know the seating is tight and the morning rush is a real rush.

Loved the flat white and the atmosphere, I ordered a flat white and the pistachio croissant. I also bought some coffee to take home. Highly recommended 😉

Generous and friendly vibe. Beautiful interior, good coffee. One of my favourite spots in the city. Only thing I'm missing is decaf espresso drinks. Highly recommended overall.

Nice little coffee shop in the heart of Oslo offering a good selection of coffees and pastries. I had a Latte and a fruit flapjack which was very tasty and not overly sweet unlike many cakes these days. Definitely recommend

Lovely scandi café with fabulous coffee (thoroughly enjoyed the fermented beans filter) and tasty sweets (delicious pistachio croissant filled to the brim with cream).

I really like the coffee here, and the vanilla matcha is the best vanilla matcha in the city. It’s honestly amazing. The pistachio croissants also completely won me over. The only thing that really annoys me is that I don’t like plant-based milk, and a few times my drink was made with oat milk without anyone asking. Sometimes I have to specifically emphasize that I want regular milk. Also, the menu has two options — hot or cold — but occasionally they forget to ask and make it iced by default. That said, the vanilla matcha and the pistachio croissants are so good that they definitely deserve a high rating. The coffee is also very tasty. It’s also a very pleasant place to spend time — the atmosphere is nice and there’s always a lovely crowd of people. That’s why I really enjoy coming here.
