Hand-painted Panamanian hats by the pier

Panama Ilimitado sets up right next to the pier, selling sombreros pintados along with other island-made crafts. The hand-painted straw hats count as part of Panama's intangible cultural heritage. Designs lean local: the flag, hillside butterflies, sometimes Taboga's own outline, all done in acrylic.

Prices run around 15 dollars a hat. They take Yappy along with cash, useful since the stall has no real storefront. It's less a shop than a table that reappears near the dock most days.
