Fire, light and sea, at Lio's Japanese-designed hotel

The kitchen at CALIMA cooks entirely over open fire, building the menu around whatever comes out of Bacuit Bay that day. It sits inside Piece Lio, the Japanese-designed hotel on Lio Beach, and serves both breakfast and dinner.

Lio Beach itself is a planned estate north of El Nido town, not the chaotic strip most visitors picture. No tricycles, no touts. Some find it restful, others sterile. Book ahead for dinner.
