A hidden staircase behind a bookcase in Incheon's old port quarter

What's behind the bookcase at Cafe Sinaru? Push the right old book and a staircase opens onto a second floor built to look like a ferry terminal from Incheon's port-opening era, complete with a boat shape and mist rolling through every half hour.

The cafe opened in January 2025 on Sinpo-ro in Jung-gu, near Chinatown, and runs a simple menu of drip coffee and hand-baked pastries. It's closed Wednesdays, and weekend queues are common. There's no parking on site, so plan to walk or take public transit.
