Two brothers' cafe at Kaladdy junction, matcha next to milk tea

Matcha and avocado toast sit on the same menu as chai and milk tea here, a mashup aimed squarely at Jaffna's young crowd. Brothers Sayanthan and Kesavaraj run the place, one of a cluster of cafes that have opened around the city in the past two years, most helmed by people in their twenties.

Ten months after opening, it had a following well beyond the junction it sits on. Smoothie bowls sit next to milkshakes on the menu, the kind of split that keeps both the espresso crowd and the tea traditionalists coming back.
