Queen's Hotel has stared down the Temple of the Tooth since the 19th century, and for years it gave nobody a reason to walk in. That changed with East Ceylon Café.

Expect coffee, cake and light plates in a room that kept its original bones, on the most walked-past corner in Kandy.

We were at the Coffee shop that is part of the hotel. We tried Yara (Pulled) Milk Tea, it was lovely. We were served by Lakshanthi, the service was great too! Absolutely recommend

I recently visited Queens East Ceylon Cafe in Kandy and it was such a pleasant surprise. If you’re looking for a place to relax with good food and a beautiful view, this is it. First, the interior is really thoughtfully designed. It feels modern but still cozy, with lots of natural light and nice seating. You can tell they put effort into making the space comfortable and Instagram worthy without being over the top. It’s the kind of place where you just want to sit down, slow down, and enjoy your meal. The food was affordable and tasted really good. I tried their banana, apple & nut bread and iced americano both were fresh and full of flavor. Portions were fair for the price, so you definitely get good value here. Nothing felt overpriced, which is rare for places with a view in Kandy. What I loved most was how peaceful it was. It wasn’t crowded at all when I went, so I could actually enjoy sketching while enjoying food. The view over Kandy is stunning, especially in the evening. Perfect spot for a quiet chat or just taking a break from sightseeing. And I have to mention the staff. They were all very friendly and welcoming. Special shoutout to Lakshani! She was super kind, patient, and made sure I had everything I needed. Good service really makes a difference, and she made the experience even better. I’ll definitely come back. Highly recommend if you want a relaxed meal.

Walked by this place and did not realize how cool of a cafe it was until I popped my head in. The chic style caught me off guard for the area but it was a pretty cool spot to grab a coffee.
