Oder Wat Imbiss

A Ruhrpott currywurst stand that grew from a pop-up into a permanent Langstrasse address
Oder Wat Imbiss opened its permanent location on Hohlstrasse on April 22, 2026, taking over the former Lang Thai Noodle House after starting as a pop-up in Kreis 3 on January 7. Owner Alessandro 'Pukki' Reintges builds the menu around German Ruhrpott street food: currywurst in a hearty, spicy sauce, a fondue version of the same dish, Mettbrötchen, and Frikadellen made to his grandmother Uschi's recipe.
Going from pop-up to a permanent spot on the Langstrasse, one of Zurich's busiest nightlife streets, took under four months. That's a fast following for a currywurst stand.

Finally, a normal pub again, just the way you like it – honest, down-to-earth, and without any frills. That's exactly what the "Oder Wat" snack bar is all about. The Taxi Plate is a must-try here – generously portioned, neatly presented, and simply exactly what you need after a long day or a good night out. No unnecessary fuss, just honest, good food. And then there's the atmosphere: relaxed, straightforward, and simply pleasant. You meet people here, strike up a conversation, and immediately feel at ease. And of course – Schalke is a topic of conversation, which gives the whole place just the right character. The bottom line: This is exactly what a pub should be like. If you're looking for an authentic atmosphere and good food, this is the place for you.

Absolutely delicious! The currywurst was really tasty, and the spaghetti ice cream was a total hit – my first time, and I was instantly hooked! 👍 Next time, I'll definitely order a bit more curry sauce and curry powder; there was room for improvement. I absolutely have to try the Tex plate, too. The fries weren't quite piping hot anymore, but they still tasted good (typical good swimming pool fries quality 😄). Otherwise, a really great place with very friendly people! I'll definitely be back. And the music was fantastic, like "Hura, hura, die Schule brennt" – a super hit!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant also functions as a bar, so it can get noisy and conversation can be challenging. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. I highly recommend it.
