Kakumbi's after-dark local

Mevis Den is a local bar in Kakumbi, a few minutes from Mfuwe's main gate, where South Luangwa residents go for a drink once the day's safari traffic clears out.

It pulls in villagers and the occasional traveler staying nearby, with music and conversation running late. There's no menu to speak of and no lodge branding, just a bar that was there long before the tourism was.

Good to know

• Go in the evening. This is where Kakumbi's own nightlife happens, not a stop built for tourists.
