An unpretentious old bar near the town centre

Makumbiro is one of Siavonga's oldest bars, better known locally by its full name, Makumbiro Ng'ombe Ilede, a nod to the Ingombe Ilede monument inland. It's an unpretentious, slightly weathered spot near the town centre, the kind of bar travel writers describe as "not much to look at" before admitting they had a good time anyway.

It draws a mixed crowd of fishermen, locals and the more adventurous visitors who want a Siavonga night out that isn't inside a lodge compound. There's no cocktail list to speak of. Cold Mosi and conversation are the main draw, on plastic chairs with a view down toward the lake.
