Breakfast through dinner at Sam Levy's Village, from the team behind Garfunkels
Kanimambo opened at Sam Levy's Village in Borrowdale in October 2025, one of several new restaurants that landed there during the centre's recent wave of renovations. The team has history at Garfunkels, one of Harare's older restaurant names, and reworked that experience into a menu running from hearty breakfasts through soulful lunches to grills and fresh seafood at night.
The name comes from the Portuguese and Mozambican word for gratitude. The food follows that lead loosely: comfort cooking with a coastal streak, built for the same all-day crowd that keeps Sam Levy's Village busy from morning coffee to dinner.

The food was really good. So fresh and hot. Amazing flavours. Waiter was good. Service was fast. Quiet environment. Went on a Saturday afternoon. The chips were my favourite and the steak was also really really juicy.

It’s a quiet restaurant with a pub kind of feel to it. If you are visiting during the winter time, especially at night, like we did, I’d urge you to dress warm. They do make an effort to create a warmer atmosphere by having gas heaters and a fire in the fire place but because it’s a big space, the warmth doesn’t always reach every corner of the restaurant. In my opinion the best item on their menu is their burger and fries. Not only is it reasonably priced but the burger meat is juicy and the fries are just right. Their pizza is okay too but I thought that there was a missing wow element. The service is pleasant though if you order something that takes a while to make like their pizza you may have a wait time of about 15-20mins which can feel very long when you are famished. The restaurant can accommodate groups of all sizes and is a place that is family friendly as they do have a few car games to keep the children occupied outside as long as you personally supervise them.
